+TVmaze API
TV and streaming shows, episodes, daily schedules, cast and crew from TVmaze as clean JSON.
The API.SH TVmaze API returns TVmaze's TV database as structured JSON. Search shows or people by name, open a show by TVmaze, IMDb or TheTVDB id for its seasons, cast, crew, network or streaming service and next episode, list every episode with air dates and ratings, read the day's schedule for broadcast TV in a country or for streaming services, and look up people with their cast and crew credits. TVmaze data is CC BY-SA 4.0: credit tvmaze.com when you republish it.

Why API.SH for TVmaze data
- Public data only: no TVmaze login, cookies or account needed

- Built and maintained by API.SH, not third-party publishers
- Pay per call; errors on our side cost nothing
- Live status for every endpoint
API.SH vs the official TVmaze API
Yes. TVmaze has a free public API that needs no key, with rate limits and CC BY-SA attribution. If that is all you need, use it directly. API.SH is useful when you want TVmaze through the same key, SDKs, Sheets, Zapier, n8n and MCP tools as your other data, with retries handled for you.
If you already use API.SH, adding TVmaze means no new client code; if not, TVmaze's own free API is a good choice too.
TVmaze API questions
What TVmaze data can I get?+
Show and people search (/tvmaze/v1/search), full show records by TVmaze, IMDb or TheTVDB id (/tvmaze/v1/show), episode lists (/tvmaze/v1/episodes), daily TV and streaming schedules (/tvmaze/v1/schedule) and people with their credits (/tvmaze/v1/person).
How much does the TVmaze API cost?+
Every TVmaze endpoint costs 1 credit per call. On a monthly plan 1,000 credits cost $1 (Starter is $50/month for 50,000 credits). Pay-as-you-go is $2 per 1,000 credits, with top-ups from $15 that never expire.
Is there a free trial?+
Yes. Every account gets 1,000 free credits every month. That is 1,000 calls to /tvmaze/v1/episodes at 1 credit each.
Is the official TVmaze API free?+
Yes. TVmaze's public API is free and keyless, with rate limits. API.SH charges per call because it adds one key and one response format shared with every other API.SH platform, plus SDKs and no-code integrations.
Do I need a TVmaze API key or account?+
No. You only need your API.SH key. A TVmaze key is only needed for TVmaze's premium user-level API, which API.SH does not cover.
Can I republish TVmaze data?+
Yes, under its CC BY-SA 4.0 license: credit tvmaze.com wherever you show the data.
TVmaze or TMDB?+
TVmaze is built for TV: episodes, air dates, networks and daily schedules by country. If you need TV schedules and episode data, TVmaze is a strong fit.
How do I get started?+
1. Sign up at api.sh. 2. Copy your API key. 3. Call /tvmaze/v1/search with q=breaking bad. Every parameter is in the docs at https://api.sh/docs. You can also use the JS or Python SDK, Google Sheets, Zapier, Make, n8n or the MCP server at https://api.sh/mcp.
