The API.SH Company Registries API searches official registers by company name and returns every match in one common shape: registry id, name, status, legal form, incorporation and dissolution dates, address and register link. GB searches UK Companies House, FR the French SIRENE register, NO the Norwegian Brønnøysund register, and any other country the global LEI register. Open one company by its UK company number, SIREN or SIRET, Norwegian organization number, Brazilian CNPJ or LEI for the full register record, and add officers, filings, beneficial owners or French financials. A separate endpoint checks EU VAT numbers against VIES.

Several registers run their own APIs: the Companies House Public Data API is free but needs an account and key, and SIRENE, Brønnøysund, the LEI register and VIES each have their own formats. API.SH puts them behind one key with one common response shape, so the same code searches the UK, France, Norway and the LEI register.

Commercial company data APIs such as Coresignal, OpenCorporates or Global Database sell broad firmographics; Apify actors cover individual US state registries. API.SH focuses on official register records for the UK, France, Norway, Brazil (by CNPJ) and LEI entities plus EU VAT checks, at a fixed price per call; it does not search US state registries.

What company data can I get?+

Name search across official registers with status, legal form, dates and address (/companies/v1/search), one full company record by registry id with optional officers, filings, beneficial owners and French financials (/companies/v1/company), and EU VAT number validation (/companies/v1/vat).

How much does the company registry API cost?+

Every Company Registries endpoint costs 1 credit per call. On a monthly plan 1,000 credits cost $1 (Starter is $50/month for 50,000 credits). Pay-as-you-go is $2 per 1,000 credits, with top-ups from $15 that never expire.

Is there a free company registry API?+

Yes. Every account gets 1,000 free credits every month. That is 1,000 calls to /companies/v1/company at 1 credit each. Companies House, SIRENE and VIES also offer free access with their own sign-ups and formats; API.SH saves you integrating each one.

Where does the data come from?+

UK Companies House, the French SIRENE register, the Norwegian Brønnøysund register, the Brazilian CNPJ register, the global LEI register of legal entities, and the EU VIES system for VAT numbers.

Do I need keys for the underlying sources?+

No. One API.SH key covers every endpoint on this page. You do not register with Companies House or the other registers or manage their keys, limits or formats.

Which countries are covered?+

Search covers GB, FR and NO registers with filters, and every other country through the LEI register (entities that have a Legal Entity Identifier). Lookup by id also accepts Brazilian CNPJs. VAT checks cover EU member states.

Can I get directors and beneficial owners?+

Yes, where the register publishes them. Pass include on /companies/v1/company for UK officers, filings and persons with significant control, Norwegian roles such as CEO, board and auditor, and French directors and financials.
