+Brreg API

The API.SH Brreg API returns data from Norway's Brønnøysund Register Centre (Enhetsregisteret) as clean JSON. Search legal entities by name with every public filter, including organisation form, NACE industry code, municipality, headcount, registration dates and bankruptcy or VAT flags. Look up a company by organisation number for its addresses, sector, share capital and register status, add the key figures from its filed annual accounts, list its CEO, board and auditor, and find its sub-units (underenheter).

API.SH vs the official Brreg API
The Brønnøysund Register Centre publishes free open APIs for the Central Coordinating Register for Legal Entities, with key figures from annual accounts on its Regnskapsregister-API; some datasets, such as beneficial owners, need approved access. API.SH wraps the public data in the same JSON shape it uses for every other platform, with roles and accounts figures available from one company call.
If you only need Norway, the free official API is a fine choice; API.SH suits teams that already use one key for company data from many countries and sites, and want the same response format, SDKs and no-code connectors for Brreg.
Brreg API questions
What Brreg data can I get?+
Company search with every public filter (/brreg/v1/search), one company by organisation number with optional annual accounts figures (/brreg/v1/company), registered roles such as CEO, board and auditor (/brreg/v1/roles) and sub-units or establishments (/brreg/v1/units).
How much does the Brreg API cost?+
Every Brreg endpoint costs 1 credit per call. On a monthly plan 1,000 credits cost $1 (Starter is $50/month for 50,000 credits). Pay-as-you-go is $2 per 1,000 credits, with top-ups from $15 that never expire.
Is there a free trial?+
Yes. Every account gets 1,000 free credits every month. That is 1,000 calls to /brreg/v1/company at 1 credit each.
Is there an official Brreg API?+
Yes. Brønnøysundregistrene offers free open APIs for Enhetsregisteret and key accounts figures, documented on brreg.no and GitHub. API.SH returns the same public register data in its standard JSON format, alongside the other platforms on your key.
Do I need a Brreg or Altinn account?+
No. API.SH uses only the open, public register data. No endpoint needs a login, an Altinn key or special access, and birth dates of role holders are left out.
Can I get annual accounts (regnskap) through the API?+
Yes, the key figures. Add include=accounts to /brreg/v1/company to get revenue, operating result, result before tax, net result, total assets, equity and liabilities from the filed annual accounts, newest first.
Can I use the Brreg API from Python or JavaScript?+
Yes. It is a plain HTTPS API returning JSON, and there are official API.SH SDKs for Python and JS. Call /brreg/v1/search with q set to a company name, or /brreg/v1/company with an org_number.
How do I get started?+
1. Sign up at api.sh. 2. Copy your API key. 3. Call /brreg/v1/company with a nine-digit org_number, or /brreg/v1/search with q set to a company name. Request examples and every parameter are in the docs at https://api.sh/docs. You can also use the JS or Python SDK, Google Sheets, Zapier, Make, n8n or the MCP server at https://api.sh/mcp.
