API.SH vs the official OpenTable API
OpenTable offers APIs through its developer portal, aimed at approved partners such as restaurants and reservation or POS software providers, who request access and integrate. API.SH is read-only and needs no partner approval: it returns public restaurant, menu, review and open-time data, and cannot book a table.
Skip building and maintaining your own OpenTable scraper or paying for separate Apify actors for restaurants and reviews: API.SH gives you one key and a fixed price per 1,000 calls.
OpenTable API questions
What OpenTable data can I get?+
Restaurant search with open reservation times (/opentable/v1/search), one restaurant with hours, ratings, awards and full menus (/opentable/v1/restaurant) and all diner reviews of a restaurant (/opentable/v1/reviews).
How much does the OpenTable API cost?+
Every OpenTable endpoint costs 1 credit per call. On a monthly plan 1,000 credits cost $1 (Starter is $50/month for 50,000 credits). Pay-as-you-go is $2 per 1,000 credits, with top-ups from $15 that never expire.
Is there a free trial?+
Yes. Every account gets 1,000 free credits every month. That is 1,000 calls to /opentable/v1/restaurant at 1 credit each.
Is there an official OpenTable API?+
Yes, for partners. OpenTable has a developer portal where approved partners request supported APIs and sandbox access, mostly for reservation sync and integrations. API.SH does not need partner approval, but it only reads public data.
Do I need a OpenTable account or login?+
No. API.SH reads public OpenTable pages only. No endpoint uses a login, cookies or anyone's account.
How do I get started?+
1. Sign up at api.sh. 2. Copy your API key. 3. Call /opentable/v1/search with term set to a city or cuisine, plus date, time and party_size. Request examples and every parameter are in the docs at https://api.sh/docs. You can also use the JS or Python SDK, Google Sheets, Zapier, Make, n8n or the MCP server at https://api.sh/mcp.
Can I book a table through the API?+
No. API.SH reads public pages only and has no write actions. It returns the open reservation times, so your app or agent can show them, but the booking itself happens on OpenTable.
Is there a free OpenTable API?+
OpenTable's own APIs are partner-only. With API.SH you get 1,000 free credits every month to try restaurant search, menus and reviews. Output is JSON, CSV or NDJSON, and you can call it from Python with the SDK or plain HTTPS.
