Why API.SH for Tripadvisor data

  • Public data only: no Tripadvisor login, cookies or account needed
  • One key and one response shape for Tripadvisor and 481 other platforms
  • Built and maintained by API.SH, not third-party publishers
  • Pay per call; errors on our side cost nothing
  • Live status for every endpoint

API.SH vs the official Tripadvisor API

Tripadvisor has official developer APIs: a Content API, now part of its Terra platform, for locations, ratings, reviews and photos, which needs an API key from its developer portal. API.SH needs no developer application and also returns hotel price comparison and city listings in one JSON format.

Skip building and maintaining a Tripadvisor scraper or paying for an Apify actor: API.SH gives you one key and a fixed price per call.

Tripadvisor API questions

What Tripadvisor data can I get?+

Search (/tripadvisor/v1/search), hotels, restaurants and attractions in a city (/tripadvisor/v1/hotels, /tripadvisor/v1/restaurants, /tripadvisor/v1/attractions), place details (/tripadvisor/v1/place), reviews (/tripadvisor/v1/reviews) and hotel prices (/tripadvisor/v1/hotel/prices).

How much does the Tripadvisor API cost?+

Every Tripadvisor endpoint costs 1 credit per call. On a monthly plan 1,000 credits cost $1 (Starter is $50/month for 50,000 credits). Pay-as-you-go is $2 per 1,000 credits, with top-ups from $15 that never expire.

Is there a free trial?+

Yes. Every account gets 1,000 free credits every month. That is 1,000 calls to /tripadvisor/v1/attractions at 1 credit each.

Is there an official Tripadvisor API?+

Yes. Tripadvisor publishes a Content API on its developer platform for locations, ratings, reviews and photos, and you need a key from its developer portal. API.SH is separate and reads public pages.

Do I need a Tripadvisor account or login?+

No. API.SH reads public Tripadvisor pages only. No endpoint uses a login, cookies or anyone's account.

How do I get Tripadvisor reviews?+

Use /tripadvisor/v1/search to find the place and its id, then call /tripadvisor/v1/reviews with that id or the page url and the type (hotel, restaurant or attraction). Pass page and limit to go through more reviews.

Can I get data from the UK or other Tripadvisor sites?+

Yes. Most routes take a domain parameter such as com, co.uk, de, fr, it or es, so you can read the regional site and language.

How do I get started?+

1. Sign up at api.sh. 2. Copy your API key. 3. Call /tripadvisor/v1/search with a place name to get its id, then /tripadvisor/v1/place or /tripadvisor/v1/reviews. Request examples and every parameter are in the docs at https://api.sh/docs. You can also use the JS or Python SDK, Google Sheets, Zapier, Make, n8n or the MCP server at https://api.sh/mcp.
