API.SH vs the official Audible API
Audible has no public developer API for its catalog; the API used by its apps is undocumented and tied to Amazon account sign-in, which is what tools like audible-cli and community metadata providers rely on. API.SH returns public catalog data as JSON with no Audible or Amazon account.
Instead of using an unofficial Audible client library or building an Audible scraper, API.SH gives you search, books, reviews and best sellers with one key and a fixed price per call.
Audible API questions
What Audible data can I get?+
Search (/audible/v1/search), one book with ISBN, editorial reviews and rating distribution (/audible/v1/book), listener reviews (/audible/v1/reviews), author pages (/audible/v1/author), best sellers (/audible/v1/bestsellers), the category tree (/audible/v1/categories) and similar titles (/audible/v1/similar).
How much does the Audible API cost?+
Every Audible endpoint costs 1 credit per call. On a monthly plan 1,000 credits cost $1 (Starter is $50/month for 50,000 credits). Pay-as-you-go is $2 per 1,000 credits, with top-ups from $15 that never expire.
Is there a free trial?+
Yes. Every account gets 1,000 free credits every month. That is 1,000 calls to /audible/v1/author at 1 credit each.
Is there an official Audible API?+
Not a public one. Audible does not publish developer documentation or API keys; its app API requires an Amazon sign-in. API.SH gives you public catalog data without one.
Do I need an Audible or Amazon account?+
No. API.SH reads public Audible store pages only. It does not access libraries, purchases or listening history, and it does not download audiobooks.
Which Audible stores are covered?+
Pass country to choose the store, such as the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany or France. Search, book, author, reviews and best sellers all accept it.
Can I use the Audible API from Python?+
Yes. Use the API.SH Python SDK or any HTTP client: call /audible/v1/search with q or author and parse the JSON.
How do I get started?+
1. Sign up at api.sh. 2. Copy your API key. 3. Call /audible/v1/search with a keyword such as dune. Request examples and every parameter are in the docs at https://api.sh/docs. You can also use the JS or Python SDK, Google Sheets, Zapier, Make, n8n or the MCP server at https://api.sh/mcp.
