API.SH vs the official Patreon API
Patreon has an official API v2 built on OAuth, mainly for creators and apps to check who is a member and which tier they have; it reads your own campaign or users who connect their account, and Patreon stopped providing developer support for it in 2020. API.SH reads the public page and posts of any creator with no OAuth client or creator token.
Simpler than running Apify or Bright Data Patreon scrapers or a browser extension: one key, a fixed price per call and blocks and retries handled for you.
Patreon API questions
What Patreon data can I get?+
A creator's public page with about text, post count, tiers and goals (/patreon/v1/creator), and their posts with dates, likes, comments, paid flags and public post text (/patreon/v1/posts).
How much does the Patreon API cost?+
Every Patreon endpoint costs 1 credit per call. On a monthly plan 1,000 credits cost $1 (Starter is $50/month for 50,000 credits). Pay-as-you-go is $2 per 1,000 credits, with top-ups from $15 that never expire.
Is there a free trial?+
Yes. Every account gets 1,000 free credits every month. That is 1,000 calls to /patreon/v1/creator at 1 credit each.
Is there an official Patreon API?+
Yes. Patreon API v2 uses OAuth and answers which members belong to a campaign and what tier they pay for. It is designed for your own campaign or users who log in with Patreon. API.SH covers public data for any creator without OAuth.
Do I need a Patreon account or API key from Patreon?+
No. API.SH reads public Patreon pages only. No endpoint uses a login, cookies, a creator token or anyone's account.
Can I read locked Patreon posts without paying?+
No. Locked posts come without their text; you get only public details such as title, date, likes, minimum pledge and teaser. API.SH does not get around paywalls.
Can I create posts or get my patron list?+
No. API.SH is read-only and returns public data only. Patron lists and posting need Patreon's own API with your creator credentials.
How do I get started?+
1. Sign up at api.sh. 2. Copy your API key. 3. Call /patreon/v1/creator with a creator's name or page URL. Request examples and every parameter are in the docs at https://api.sh/docs. You can also use the JS or Python SDK, Google Sheets, Zapier, Make, n8n or the MCP server at https://api.sh/mcp.
