Works citing a work

1 credit / call public data try it in the playground →

The works that cite a given work (by DOI or work id): the cited work's title, year and citation count, the total number of citing works, and each citing work's DOI, work id, title, type, publication date, authors (name, ORCID, position, institutions), journal or venue, ISSN, publisher, volume, issue, pages, language, its own citation count and open-access status and link. Filter by year range, type, open access or keywords; sort by most cited, newest or oldest. Pass next_page back as page; null on the last page (paging stops at 10,000 results).

Every response includes credits_used: the credits this call cost.

Every endpoint also takes fresh, raw, fields (see lean responses and caching).

Example

curl "https://api.api.sh/papers/v1/citations?doi=10.1038%2Fnature14539" \
  -H "x-api-key: $APISH_KEY"

Response

A JSON object with the fields described above, plus raw (the source's own data), cached, fetched_at and credits_used. Errors return {"success": false, "error": "…"} with the HTTP status (see errors). A lookup that ran but found nothing (404) costs the price above; refused calls and errors on our side are free (what's charged).

The fastest way to see the full response is the playground: it runs this endpoint with your account and shows the exact JSON.
