A patent's citations in both directions: the patents it cites, the patents citing it, the family-to-family lists (patents cited by its family, families citing its family) and the non-patent literature it cites. Each patent row has the publication number, title, original assignee, priority and publication dates, language, link, and whether the examiner or a third party made the citation. totals always gives the full count of every list; limit and page page each list the same way.

Every response includes credits_used: the credits this call cost.

Parameters

nametypedescription
id string Publication number, e.g. US6285999B1. Example: US6285999B1
url string The patent URL instead of id, e.g. https://patents.google.com/patent/US6285999B1/en.
type string Comma-separated lists to return: cites, cited_by, family_cites, family_cited_by, non_patent (default all).
limit integer Rows per list per page, 1-1000 (default 100). Example: 50
page integer Page of every list, from 1 (default 1). next_page is set while any list has more rows.
sort page | newest | oldest page (default; the order Google Patents lists them), newest or oldest by priority date. Non-patent citations keep their order.
examiner_only boolean true keeps only the citations made by the examiner (totals stay the full counts).

Every endpoint also takes fresh, raw, fields (see lean responses and caching).

Example

curl "https://api.api.sh/google-patents/v1/citations?id=US6285999B1" \
  -H "x-api-key: $APISH_KEY"

Response

A JSON object with the fields described above, plus raw (the source's own data), cached, fetched_at and credits_used. Errors return {"success": false, "error": "…"} with the HTTP status (see errors). A lookup that ran but found nothing (404) costs the price above; refused calls and errors on our side are free (what's charged).

The fastest way to see the full response is the playground: it runs this endpoint with your account and shows the exact JSON.
