Places near a point (reverse geocoding)

GET https://api.api.sh/geo/v1/nearby
1 credit / call public data try it in the playground →

Towns and cities (1,000+ people) within a radius of a point, nearest first, with distance: GeoNames id, name, coordinates, country, region, county, population, elevation, time zone and type. Use min_population to find the nearest large city. Data: GeoNames (CC BY 4.0).

Every response includes credits_used: the credits this call cost.

Parameters

nametypedescription
latrequired number Latitude. Example: 48.8584
lonrequired number Longitude. Example: 2.2945
radius_km number Radius in km (default 25, max 300).
min_population integer Only places with at least this many people.
limit integer Max results (default 10, max 100).

Every endpoint also takes fresh, raw, fields (see lean responses and caching).

Example

curl "https://api.api.sh/geo/v1/nearby?lat=48.8584&lon=2.2945" \
  -H "x-api-key: $APISH_KEY"

Response

A JSON object with the fields described above, plus raw (the source's own data), cached, fetched_at and credits_used. Errors return {"success": false, "error": "…"} with the HTTP status (see errors). A lookup that ran but found nothing (404) costs the price above; refused calls and errors on our side are free (what's charged).

The fastest way to see the full response is the playground: it runs this endpoint with your account and shows the exact JSON.
