+Calendar API
Public holidays for about 250 countries, business-day calculations, Hijri dates and Islamic prayer times as JSON.
The API.SH Calendar API answers date questions apps keep needing. List a country's public holidays for any year from 2000 to 2035, with state and regional holidays, check whether a date is a holiday or business day, count or add business days between dates, and get the next upcoming holidays. It also converts between Gregorian and Hijri (Umm al-Qura) dates and computes Islamic prayer times for any place.

API.SH vs the official Calendar API
Free holiday sources exist for some countries, such as the UK government's bank holidays feed and the OpenHolidays API for Europe. API.SH covers about 250 countries in one format and adds business-day math, upcoming holidays and Hijri dates, so you do not stitch several feeds together.
Holiday API, Calendarific, Abstract and the holiday APIs on RapidAPI and APYHub sell holiday lists by plan. API.SH returns holidays plus business days, is-holiday checks and prayer times with the key you use for every other API.SH dataset.
Calendar API questions
What calendar data can I get?+
Public holidays (/calendar/v1/holidays), covered countries and regions (/calendar/v1/holiday-countries), is-a-date-a-holiday (/calendar/v1/is-holiday), upcoming holidays (/calendar/v1/next-holidays), business days (/calendar/v1/business-days), Hijri conversion (/calendar/v1/hijri) and Islamic prayer times (/calendar/v1/prayer-times).
How much does the Calendar API cost?+
Every Calendar endpoint costs 1 credit per call. On a monthly plan 1,000 credits cost $1 (Starter is $50/month for 50,000 credits). Pay-as-you-go is $2 per 1,000 credits, with top-ups from $15 that never expire.
Is there a free public holidays API?+
Yes. Every account gets 1,000 free credits every month. That is 1,000 calls to /calendar/v1/business-days at 1 credit each. Some free feeds cover a single country or region, such as UK bank holidays or the OpenHolidays API for Europe.
Is this a calendar events API like Google Calendar?+
No. It does not read or write anyone's calendar. It returns public reference data: holidays, business days, Hijri dates and prayer times.
Which countries and years are covered?+
About 250 countries, years 2000 to 2035, with state and regional holidays where they exist (subdivision=all lists them all). /calendar/v1/holiday-countries lists every country, its regions, weekend days and the years covered.
Where does the data come from?+
Holidays come from API.SH's holiday dataset, with national and regional holidays per country. Hijri dates use the Umm al-Qura calendar, and prayer times are computed with each method's published angles.
Do I need keys for the underlying sources?+
No. One API.SH key covers every endpoint here and the rest of API.SH.
How do I get started?+
1. Sign up at api.sh. 2. Copy your API key. 3. Call /calendar/v1/holidays with country and year. Request examples and every parameter are in the docs at https://api.sh/docs. You can also use the JS or Python SDK, Google Sheets, Zapier, Make, n8n or the MCP server at https://api.sh/mcp.
