API.SH vs the official Xiaohongshu API

Xiaohongshu runs an Open Platform (open.xiaohongshu.com), but its APIs are for approved merchants and partners managing a store: orders, products, inventory, logistics and finance. It does not offer public access to notes, profiles or comments. API.SH needs no partner approval or login and returns the public note and profile data as JSON.

Instead of maintaining a GitHub Xiaohongshu scraper or renting Apify actors, some of them already marked deprecated, API.SH gives you one key, a fixed price per call and a JSON shape that stays the same.

What Xiaohongshu data can I get?+

The explore feed by channel (/xiaohongshu/v1/feed), one note with text, media, tags and engagement counts (/xiaohongshu/v1/note), a note's top comments (/xiaohongshu/v1/note/comments), video transcripts (/xiaohongshu/v1/note/transcript), creator profiles (/xiaohongshu/v1/user) and a creator's latest posts (/xiaohongshu/v1/user/notes).

How much does the Xiaohongshu API cost?+

Every Xiaohongshu endpoint costs 1 credit per call. On a monthly plan 1,000 credits cost $1 (Starter is $50/month for 50,000 credits). Pay-as-you-go is $2 per 1,000 credits, with top-ups from $15 that never expire.

Is there a free trial?+

Yes. Every account gets 1,000 free credits every month. That is 1,000 calls to /xiaohongshu/v1/feed at 1 credit each.

Is there an official Xiaohongshu (RedNote) API?+

Only for commerce. The Xiaohongshu Open Platform gives approved merchants and partners APIs for orders, products, inventory and logistics. There is no official public API for notes, creators or comments, which is what API.SH covers.

Do I need a Xiaohongshu account or login?+

No. API.SH reads what Xiaohongshu shows logged-out visitors. That also sets the limits: keyword search, the full comment list and posts beyond the first page are shown to logged-in accounts only, so they are not available.

What is the xsec_token and where do I get it?+

Xiaohongshu only opens a note or profile with the xsec_token that comes with its link. Every link from the feed, share links and the url fields in our responses already carries it, so pass the whole link as url, or the id with its xsec_token.

Can I get English transcripts of RedNote videos?+

Yes, when the site publishes captions for the video. /xiaohongshu/v1/note/transcript returns timed segments, the full text and an SRT file, and lists the caption tracks available, such as zh-CN and en-US. A video without captions returns 404.
