API.SH vs the official Trade Me API
Trade Me has an official developer API (developer.trademe.co.nz), but you register an application, use OAuth tokens and wait for approval, and developers describe the sandbox as buggy. API.SH needs no Trade Me app or login and returns public marketplace, motors and property listings in one JSON format.
Skip the Trade Me app approval or a custom scraper: API.SH gives you one key, fixed pricing per call and the same response shape you use for other marketplaces.
Trade Me API questions
What Trade Me data can I get?+
Marketplace search (/trademe/v1/search), one listing with bids, reserve, views, watchers, photos, shipping and Q&A (/trademe/v1/listing), Trade Me Motors vehicle search and details (/trademe/v1/motors) and Trade Me Property for sale or rent (/trademe/v1/property).
How much does the Trade Me API cost?+
Every Trade Me endpoint costs 1 credit per call. On a monthly plan 1,000 credits cost $1 (Starter is $50/month for 50,000 credits). Pay-as-you-go is $2 per 1,000 credits, with top-ups from $15 that never expire.
Is there a free trial?+
Yes. Every account gets 1,000 free credits every month. That is 1,000 calls to /trademe/v1/listing at 1 credit each.
Is there an official Trade Me API?+
Yes. Trade Me runs a developer API that needs a registered application, OAuth and approval, and its sandbox is separate from live data. API.SH is an alternative for reading public listings without that setup.
Do I need a Trade Me account or login?+
No. API.SH reads public Trade Me pages only. No endpoint uses a login, cookies or anyone's account, and private sellers' names, phones and emails are never returned.
Can I get Trade Me property and motors data?+
Yes. /trademe/v1/property covers homes for sale or rent with bedroom, bathroom, price, floor and land area filters, and /trademe/v1/motors covers vehicles with make, model, year, odometer, fuel, transmission and price filters. Pass id or url to either for one full listing.
How does pagination work?+
Search, motors and property results take page and limit. Pass the next page number to keep going.
How do I get started?+
1. Sign up at api.sh. 2. Copy your API key. 3. Call /trademe/v1/search with q=bike. Docs and request examples are at https://api.sh/docs. You can also use the JS or Python SDK, Google Sheets, Zapier, Make, n8n or the MCP server at https://api.sh/mcp.
