Imgur has an official REST API (version 3) for uploads, albums and gallery reads, which needs a registered Client-ID and OAuth 2.0 for user actions, and new client registration has been restricted. API.SH covers the read side with no client ID or OAuth: public gallery, search, tag and post data as JSON. It does not upload images or act on an account.

Every Imgur endpoint costs 1 credit per call. On a monthly plan 1,000 credits cost $1 (Starter is $50/month for 50,000 credits). Pay-as-you-go is $2 per 1,000 credits, with top-ups from $15 that never expire.

Is there a free Imgur API?+

Yes. Every account gets 1,000 free credits every month. That is 1,000 calls to /imgur/v1/gallery at 1 credit each.

Is there an official Imgur API, and do I need an Imgur API key?+

Imgur's official API needs a Client-ID, and registering new clients has been restricted. With API.SH you do not need an Imgur client ID or OAuth token, only your API.SH key.

Do I need an Imgur account or login?+

No. API.SH reads public Imgur posts only. No endpoint uses a login or anyone's account. Posts marked mature are not returned.

Can I upload images with this API?+

No. The API.SH Imgur API is read-only: gallery, search, tags and posts. For uploads, use Imgur's own API or another image host.
