Why API.SH for Formula 1 data
- Public data only: no Formula 1 login, cookies or account needed
- One key and one response shape for Formula 1 and 483 other platforms
- Built and maintained by API.SH, not third-party publishers
- Pay per call; errors on our side cost nothing
- Live status for every endpoint
API.SH vs the official Formula 1 API
Formula 1 does not offer a public developer API; its live timing is for fans on formula1.com. Developers rely on community projects such as OpenF1 and FastF1. API.SH gives you results, standings, laps and pit stops plus formula1.com news through one key and one JSON format.
Instead of stitching together community F1 APIs, Python packages and an Apify actor, use API.SH: documented routes, one key and a fixed price per call.
Formula 1 API questions
What Formula 1 data can I get?+
Season calendar (/f1/v1/races), race results (/f1/v1/results), qualifying (/f1/v1/qualifying), sprint results (/f1/v1/sprint), driver and constructor standings (/f1/v1/driver-standings, /f1/v1/constructor-standings), lap times (/f1/v1/laps), pit stops (/f1/v1/pitstops), circuits, drivers and constructors of a season, a driver's career totals (/f1/v1/driver) and formula1.com news (/f1/v1/news).
How much does the Formula 1 API cost?+
Every Formula 1 endpoint costs 1 credit per call. On a monthly plan 1,000 credits cost $1 (Starter is $50/month for 50,000 credits). Pay-as-you-go is $2 per 1,000 credits, with top-ups from $15 that never expire.
Is there a free trial?+
Yes. Every account gets 1,000 free credits every month. That is 1,000 calls to /f1/v1/circuits at 1 credit each.
Is there an official Formula 1 API?+
No public one. Formula 1 shows live timing on formula1.com but has no open developer API, which is why OpenF1, FastF1 and other community projects exist. API.SH is a maintained, paid option with one JSON format.
Do I need an F1 account or F1 TV subscription?+
No. API.SH uses public data only. No endpoint needs a formula1.com account, F1 TV or any login.
Is there a free Formula 1 API?+
Community APIs are free but come with their own limits and gaps. API.SH is paid per call with 1,000 free credits every month, enough to test it and run small projects.
Does it include live telemetry?+
No. It returns results, qualifying, standings, lap-by-lap times and positions, pit stops and news, not car telemetry such as speed, throttle or brake traces.
How do I get started?+
1. Sign up at api.sh. 2. Copy your API key from the dashboard. 3. Call /f1/v1/results with a season and round, or /f1/v1/driver-standings for the current table. Request examples and every parameter are in the docs at https://api.sh/docs. You can also use the JS or Python SDK, Google Sheets, Zapier, Make, n8n or the MCP server at https://api.sh/mcp.
