+Copilot API
Ask Microsoft Copilot a question and get its answer and cited sources as JSON.
The API.SH Copilot API sends your prompt to Microsoft Copilot Search (AI Mode on bing.com) as a logged-out visitor and returns the answer as markdown and plain text. You also get the sources it read and cited, each with title, URL, source name and snippet, and the model feed when it is shown. You can choose the country. This is not the Microsoft 365 Copilot or GitHub Copilot API: it is for seeing what public Copilot tells people.

API.SH vs the official Copilot API
Microsoft offers official Copilot APIs, but they are for organizations: the Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat and Retrieval APIs work on a company's own Microsoft 365 data and sign in through Entra ID, and GitHub has separate Copilot REST endpoints for managing and measuring Copilot. None of them returns what public Copilot says to a search visitor. API.SH asks Copilot Search as a logged-out visitor and returns the answer and citations, for tracking what it says.
Instead of automating the chatbot website yourself or paying an AI-scraper vendor, you call one route with a prompt and get the answer and citations back in the same JSON shape as every other API.SH platform.
Copilot API questions
What Copilot data can I get?+
One route: /copilot/v1/ask. Send a prompt (and optionally a country) and get Microsoft Copilot Search's answer as markdown and plain text, plus the sources it read and cited with title, URL, source and snippet, and the model feed when shown.
How much does the Copilot API cost?+
Every Copilot endpoint costs 1 credit per call. On a monthly plan 1,000 credits cost $1 (Starter is $50/month for 50,000 credits). Pay-as-you-go is $2 per 1,000 credits, with top-ups from $15 that never expire.
Is there a free trial?+
Yes. Every account gets 1,000 free credits every month. That is 1,000 calls to /copilot/v1/ask at 1 credit each.
Is there an official Copilot API?+
Yes, several, but for different jobs. Microsoft 365 Copilot has Chat and Retrieval APIs that work on a company's Microsoft 365 data with Entra ID sign-in, and GitHub has REST endpoints for managing Copilot. API.SH is different: it asks public Copilot Search a question and returns the answer and its citations.
Do I need a Copilot account or login?+
No. The request runs as a logged-out visitor of Copilot Search on bing.com. No endpoint uses a login, cookies or anyone's account.
How do I get started?+
1. Sign up at api.sh. 2. Copy your API key. 3. Call /copilot/v1/ask with a prompt such as "What is the tallest building in Europe?". Request examples and every parameter are in the docs at https://api.sh/docs. You can also use the JS or Python SDK, Google Sheets, Zapier, Make, n8n or the MCP server at https://api.sh/mcp.
Is Copilot an API I can call from Python?+
Not as one public Copilot endpoint. You can call /copilot/v1/ask from Python with the API.SH SDK or plain HTTP, send a prompt, and read the answer and citations from the JSON.
Is there a free Copilot API key?+
Microsoft's Copilot APIs are tied to Microsoft 365 or GitHub plans. With API.SH you use one API key for this route, and every account gets 1,000 free credits every month. That is 1,000 calls to /copilot/v1/ask at 1 credit each.
